  • When the front oil seals lose elasticity and become withered and hard, that time transmission starts to leak as it loses the capacity to stop the fluid from oozing out.

  • Cheap valves are installed into the transmission of the 4R100. Hence it’s safe to always inspect the valve bodies as a lack of them causes issues. 
  • Check your oil channels now and then and inspect whether there are any liquid leaks. 
  • When you’re putting your car through heavy work and off-road work and suddenly come across a transmission issue, make sure you open up the lid of your engine and inspect every corner for wear and tear, clogged spaces, leaks, and irregular wirings. 

2. Do Maintenance

Oftentimes a mere clogger space can wreak havoc on your 4R100 transmission. For instance- 

  • When your car stops suddenly during a reverse: it mostly happens due to a clogged airway of the IAC system. Therefore, when this situation takes place, grab your blowers and towels and clean the debris stuck within the IAC system. Once you do that, the sudden stalling of the car should come to an end. 
  • When you’re unable to shift gears or having a hard time shifting: Since this case is caused by a broken or clogged accumulator, you’ll have to clean the internal bore with a dry cloth after checking the accumulator groove. 

3. Replace broken or worn-out materials 

When there’s an inevitable cause behind the problem of your 4R100 transmission, chances are you’ll have to replace the broken or work out materials to repair them. Here’s when you need a replacement- 

  • For transmission, gear slips: if the overdrive light flashes or flickers, your fuse needs to be replaced.
