The Everstart car batteries from Walmart are known for their affordability. Even though the batteries are very inexpensive, they are as good as Duralast and Diehard batteries.
In the rest of this blog, I will discuss what makes Walmart car batteries worth the money and a few other important details.
PS: In my previous blog, I discussed Walmart’s rival brand, Interstate. You can check out that blog here.
Who makes Walmart car batteries?
The Everstart car batteries are primarily manufactured by Clarios, a subsidiary of Johnson Controls, a leading American car battery manufacturer based in the United States.
Johnson Controls manufactures batteries for more than 60% of the US market. They produce batteries for several brands, including Sears, Toyota, BMW, Continental, OPTIMA, Heliar, LTH, Delkor, and more. They make one-third of all the batteries supplied globally.
Walmart also gets the batteries from two other manufacturers: East Penn Manufacturing, and Exide. Both of these manufacturers are giants in the industry and have years of experience in making car batteries.
Where Are Walmart Car Batteries Manufactured?
Neither Walmart nor the three manufacturers disclose where Everstart batteries are made. Clarios, East Penn Manufacturing, and Exide all have manufacturing facilities in different parts of the world.
So it’s hard to pinpoint exactly where they would make Walmart car batteries.
3 types of car batteries does walmart sell
Walmart offers three types of batteries based on their performance and price range.
- EverStart Value batteries are the most inexpensive car batteries at Walmart. They come in at around fifty dollars. Considering the low price, the batteries perform better than expected. They can run efficiently for a year or so.
Note: these batteries are not the best for winter applications.
- EverStart Plus batteries are the upgraded version, and they come in the hundred-dollar range. The batteries are reliable and can be used with a variety of vehicles.
- EverStart Maxx batteries are premium quality car batteries from Walmart. They come in at around $120, which is a below-average price range for car batteries. These batteries last longer than the other two series and perform better in all conditions.

Are Walmart Car Batteries Good? What Makes Walmart Car Batteries Good?
Walmart car batteries are very impressive in the lower price range. Here are the top five things that make them a good choice as a budget-friendly car battery.
#1 – Powerful Cold Cranking Amps (CCA)
Car batteries usually come in at around 300 – 600 cold cranking amps (CCA). The battery manufacturers use this scale to assess a battery’s capacity to start an engine in cold conditions. The EverStart Plus and Maxx battery series provide 750 CCA. This is a stunning feature for a battery in the $100 price range.
#2 – Reliable Performance
As I have mentioned earlier, Walmart produces the EverStart batteries from some of the leading and giant manufacturers in the industry. These companies have been around for a long time and have built expertise in making batteries. That’s why Walmart batteries provide reliable performance consistently.
#3 – Battery Group Size
The battery group size reveals a lot about the battery, such as the height and weight of the battery, the terminal locations, etc. Walmart car batteries have industry standard size groups, which makes them applicable to a wide range of vehicles.
#4 – Convenient Installation
Apart from being affordable, Walmart car batteries are also very convenient to install in the vehicle. You don’t need to get your hands dirty installing the batteries as Walmart offers to install the batteries for free if you directly purchase it from them. However, this offer is only available in Walmart stores that have a separate automotive service section.
#5 – Warranty
Walmart cart batteries come with favorable warranty policies. The EverStart Value series has a 12-month warranty, a standard warranty time given that the batteries cost only fifty bucks (approximately). The EverStart Plus and Maxx series have two years and three years of warranty respectively. This extended period of warranty takes the pressure off of you.
Does Walmart pay for old batteries?
Walmart does not pay for old batteries. There is a catch to it though. If you previously purchased batteries from Walmart, you will be eligible for a small cashback on your battery purchase. It’s called “core charges.” Walmart usually returns $12 for every core charge.
Note: The core charge varies depending on the states.
What Is Walmart Battery Return Policy?
Walmart requires you to show the purchase receipt in the case of core charges or replacement of your batteries. If you don’t have the receipt, it would be best if you can take the old batteries to the Walmart store.
